A short time ago in a galaxy not so far, far away…the Cariuma x Star Wars collection released with five sneaker variations. But you won’t find any Darth Vader or Storm Trooper visuals here — the brand specifically selected Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and Princess Leia as inspiration for collab’s dynamic colors due to “the good and light they bring”. This B Corp-certified Brazilian shoe brand is known best for using eco-friendly materials, ethical manufacturing, and most of all, their reforestation efforts. Unlike the Death Star, each shoe is built to last, made from a blend of organic cotton, sustainably sourced rubber, cork and even recycled plastics. Cariuma says this collection was meant to “encourage us to use what is in our power to do good”, and as a part of their continual Pair-for-Pair commitment, that means that for every pair you buy, the brand will plant two trees in the Brazilian rainforest. To get the rainforest back to looking like the planet Endor after years of illegal logging and mining, most of the trees are planted in the Atlantic forest biome (one of the most important to the nation’s biodiversity) where only 11% of their original covering is still standing.
To embody the light side characters combating the dark, these consciously-crafted galactic designs include the black suede Light Speed Oca High and Low sneakers that simulate traveling through space with hyperdrive, along with the Fighter Pilot-inspired Vallely pair inspired by Luke’s ship from A New Hope. Every Cariuma x Star Wars sneaker is also built with durable canvas and a vegan insole made from memory foam and mamona oil for all-day comfort as you square up against any Sith Lords in your way.
