Just a few days after André 3000 promised new music was on the way, he’s come through with a trio of new tunes.

The lead offering is “Moving Day,” a nearly 12-minute instrumental that pairs André’s propulsive flute with swells of clattering percussion and ambient textures. The musician also shared “Day Moving,” which — as its title suggests — is “Moving Day” played in reverse.

Capping it all off is “Tunnels of Egypt,” a previously unreleased song André originally recorded for his celebrated flute album, New Blue Sun. (You can hear that one below.)

The three new songs may also serve as a sort of anniversary celebration for New Blue Sun, which was released just over a year ago on Nov. 17, 2023. The album marked the musician’s first since his half of Outkast’s 2003 Grammy-winning double LP, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. André just wrapped up a North American tour in support of New Blue Sun, including a set at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival

Earlier this month, André earned a handful of Grammy nominations for New Blue Sun, including Album of the Year and Best Alternative Jazz Album. His song “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time” also picked up a nod for Best Instrumental Composition.

As for what’s next, André told Amazon Music earlier this week that “new music for sure” is coming, and that he was going to keep searching for “new ways to distribute and express” himself. No exact details on when additional material might arrive, with the musician saying, “I don’t wanna pinpoint what it is, but I just want to express more. Put it like that.”
