Ariana Grande‘s appearance on The Tonight Show got off to a rocky start backstage, when she and host Jimmy Fallon found themselves in a heated argument about… the taxonomy of witches in the extended Oz universe.

Ok, not actually. The pair instead did a lip-sync recreation of the classic viral video of two people who actually did have that argument. The one that includes the glorious line, “Her sister was a witch, right? And what was her sister? A princess, the Wicked Witch of the East, bro!”

Grande took the lead in the recreation, capturing the exasperation and hitting all the right gestures as she got up in Fallon’s face and spat back, “She wore a crown and she came down in a bubble, Doug. Grow up bro, grow up.” Fallon, for his part, had little to do but meekly mime back at the very end, “Get educated.”

The feigned spat was, of course, just a prelude to Grande’s interview with Fallon, which primarily centered on the upcoming release of Wicked. Grande spoke about learning she’d been cast in the film, playing Dorothy in a local theater production of Wizard of Oz as a kid, and how she cold-called SNL’s Lorne Michaels as part of her effort to get Bowen Yang involved as Pfannee (this prompted Grande to indulge the time-honored comedy tradition of impersonating Lorne Michaels).

Speaking of SNL, Grande also spoke about her recent stint hosting the show and her two viral sketches from that night. For the “Espresso”/Domingo sketch, Grande spoke about her impressive off-key singing, which she said was a bit she “found in the moment” and pitched to the writers. And, as for Antonio the poor castrati, Grande noted fans have been coming up to her at the Wicked premieres asking her to sign posters of the character. She then quipped, “I understand, I appreciate it. He’s still with me. I’m still unpacking the emotional weight of Antonio with my therapist.”
