BCB is running as a patchwork, says sports adviser

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, spoke to the media on the occasion of the 100 days of interim government. In response to a question about the Bangladesh Cricket Board at the Secretariat today, he said, the BCB is running as a pacthwork at the moment.

Following the mass uprising in July-August, the BCB has had a reshuffle. Despite the change in several positions including that of the president, the activities of the board are slowpaced. In this regard, Asif Mahmud said: "BCB is running as a patchwork. When not on duty, BCB people could not be found. Efforts are underway to break the deadlock by appointing new directors.

"Apart from this, annual report and audit report will be given to ensure the accountability of each federation. If someone commits corruption, it will also be investigated. However, several federations, including football, are autonomous. So there is no scope for government intervention there," the sports adviser added.

Asif Mahmud also said that the process of restructuring the federations is ongoing. He said, "The complaints against various committees are being looked into and measures are being taken. Where there is stagnation, efforts are being made to resolve the crisis by forming new committees."
