Bonofuli Chakma emerged champion in inaugural National Youth Gymnastics Championships after grabbing one gold, two silver and one bronze at the National Sports Council gymnasium on Wednesday.
Bonofuli, from BKSP, first bagged gold medal in vaulting table with a score of 12.50 points, beating Hlakhing Marma (11.90) of Quantum Cosmo School and College and teammate Sadia Afrin (10.80).
The BKSP student, however, had to be content with silver medals in uneven bar and balance beam events, finishing behind Memesing Marma and Hlaking Marma respectively.
Banofuli became overall individual champion with four medals ahead of first runner-up Hlakhing Marma, who scored 30.40 points against Bonofuli's 37.45 points.
The achievement, however, could not help BKSP finishing top of the table. Instead, Quantum Cosmo School and College emerged champion with three gold, three silver and one bronze.
The two-day youth gymnastics meet, which is being held as part of the youth festival, will come to an end on Thursday. Earlier, BKSP Director General Brigadier General Muhammad Munirul Islam opened the championships on Wednesday.
