A SCHOOLBOY died connected a motorcycle thrust with his dada erstwhile helium slammed into a telegraph rod aft his brakes failed, an inquest heard.
Rufus Pomeroy, 12, had travelled to Hay-on-Wye, Powys, for a planned camping travel erstwhile the horror unfolded.
An inquest heard Rufus realised his brakes were not moving and would propulsion his motorcycle until the terrain was flat.
But the schoolboy was connected a roadworthy helium did not cognize "which rapidly descended into a steep hill".
Rufus, of Bristol, mislaid power of the motorcycle and suffered a "heavy collision" with a telegraph rod connected May 28 past year.
Dad William, who had stopped adjacent a workplace gate, recovered Rufus lying unconscious connected his backmost and his motorcycle connected the ground.
He was rushed to infirmary but died from catastrophic caput injuries that day.
The inquest was told Rufus, who had "autistic tendencies" was not wearing a helmet.
Coroner Rachel Knight ruled an accidental verdict.
She said: "Sadly, apt owed to the velocity helium achieved and his deficiency of moving brakes, Rufus mislaid power of his motorcycle and suffered a dense collision with a telegraph pole.
"Rufus was not wearing a helmet, and sustained catastrophic caput injuries.
"He was taken to hospital, and tragically helium died."
Rufus, who was a pupil astatine Redland Green School, was described by headteacher Ben Houghton arsenic “a beauteous and valued subordinate of our schoolhouse community”.
He said astatine the clip that the schoolhouse assemblage had been "deeply saddened" and "devastated" by the loss.
In a missive to parents, the headteacher wrote: "I would similar to explicit our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to Rufus's household and friends during this incredibly hard time."
