J Balvin Announces Back to the Rayo, His First Tour in Six Years

J Balvin is finally ready to tour in the United States again. On Monday, the reggaeton star announced that he’ll be returning to arenas across North America for his upcoming Back to the Rayo tour, in celebration of his most recent LP, Rayo.

Balvin announced 27 shows with a Back to the Future-inspired video on Instagram. In the video, he takes off in the film’s iconic DeLorean and enters a vortex where the vehicle transforms into the car from his album artwork.

“From the same creators of Energía, Vibras, and Arcoíris Tour, comes Rayo tour USA,” Balvin wrote on Instagram. “Legooooo.”

Balvin will start his tour in Atlanta on March 20 before stopping in cities including Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, and Dallas. He’ll then head to the west coast for shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Seattle. The tour will wrap on May 17 in Portland, Oregon.

The new run will arrive three years after Balvin canceled his Jose tour due to “unforeseen production challenges” related to Covid. At the time, he said he’d reschedule the shows, but ultimately didn’t. His last tour was his Arcoiris Tour in 2019, coinciding with his LP Colores.

Balvin has said Rayo took him back to his roots. “It’s the nostalgia I had of when I was in the studio for the first time. Sometimes you get so caught up in the business that you start just thinking about the business and not the music purely,” he told Rolling Stone back in August. “So in this case, it was like when I was a kid.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. local time, although fans can access presale tickets with an access code at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20.
