Off the heels of a Grammy Award nomination for his sixth studio album 'Rayo', the Colombian superstar is the first Latin artist to ever collab with legacy timepiece brand Casio

“People have always said to me that time is like gold,” J Balvin says in the official video for his new collaboration with Casio’s G-Shock watch. “Every single moment is an opportunity to dream, to live to the fullest, to be grateful for what we are and what we are building…the most important thing is not how much time we have. But, how we make it matter.”
Balvin has rocked a G-Shock ever since he was a kid, even previously headlining a performance at G-Shock’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2023. Now that the “Prince of Reggaeton” is all grown up (and up for a Grammy Award for his 2024 album Rayo), the Colombian superstar is coming together with Casio to produce an electric G-Shock design — marking the brand’s first ever partnership with a Latin artist. The powerful new “Ma G-Shock” digital watch incorporates Balvin’s nickname for his closest friends (along with the title of a 2021 single from his album JOSE), with mode indicators handwritten in Spanish by the artist himself. It’s available starting Jan. 27 on Casio.com, priced at $230.

Ever since the G-Shock hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as “the toughest watch of all time,” it’s been hard to improve upon that classic design. But playing off of the Grammy Award-nominee’s personal sense of creativity, this watch stands out with an interchangeable band and bezel set, offering up to eight design combinations that fans can mix and match for any mood or to create the perfect concert fit.

Along with a sleek yellow colorway, the watch face design also features personal touches — think Balvin’s iconic lightning bolt motif inspired by his second album, 2016’s Energía, and a special handwritten function description in Spanish. The DWE-5600 watch itself has a Carbon Core Guard case made of carbon fiber-reinforced resin, and with a 200-meter water resistance, it’s still as tough as you’d expect.
