Jolshiri Run-Bangla Half Marathon to run on Saturday

The Jolshiri Run-Bangla Half Marathon will take place at the Jolshiri Housing Project in Purbachal from 6:00 am on Saturday.

A total of 1900 runners – both professional and enthusiasts, men and women, including foreign nationals – will take part in the half marathon. The event will aim to raise awareness on the mental health of the youth, drug abuse, and breast cancer.

The main sponsor of the event is Jolshiri Abashon by the Bangladesh Army and this half marathon event is powered by Turaag Active! The event is being sponsored by Trust Bank PLC, Army Sports Control Board, City Bank PLC, Mutual Trust Bank PLC and construction company Ventra International as Gold Sponsors. Other honorary sponsors of the event are Al-Musawir Construction, Berger, Unimart, Sena Kalyan Sangstha, Lanka Bangla Securities, Intel Axis, Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory, Army Pharma, PRAN and University of Scholars.

The half marathon is a running event coordinated with the Bangladesh Athletics Federation. This half marathon to be held in the Jalsiri Housing Project area is a half marathon certified by the international organization of marathons in the world - Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMs) and listed by AIMs.

The event will be attended by the Engineer in Chief of the Bangladesh Army, Major General Md. Hasan Uz Zaman, NDU, PSC, MPhil. The Managing Director of Jolshiri Housing, Brigadier General Muhammad Saifur Rahman, SUP, NDC, AFWC, PSC, MPhil, will be present as the special guest. The other special guest of the program will be the Honorable Chairman of the Army Sports Control Board, Brigadier General Md. Humayun Kabir, SUP (Bar), SPP, NDC, PSC. Bangladesh's legendary triathlete Imtiaz Elahi, Turag Active brand ambassador and renowned triathlete Shamsuzzaman Arafat will also be present at the event.
