Jon Stewart is here to stay at The Daily Show. On Monday, Comedy Central announced that the comedian will return to host and exec-produce The Daily Show on Mondays through 2025.

“I’ve truly enjoyed being back working with the incredible team at The Daily Show and Comedy Central,” Stewart said in a press release, before joking: “I was really hoping they’d allow me to do every other Monday, but I’ll just have to suck it up.”

Stewart will continue as executive producer alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and his manager James “Baby Doll” Dixon. The rest of The Daily Show news team will rotate hosting duties Tuesday through Thursday.

“Jon’s incisive intellect and sharp wit make him one of the most important voices in political and cultural commentary today,” said Chris McCarthy, a Paramount executive, in a press release. “His ability to cut through the noise and deliver clear-eyed insights is exactly what we need which is why we are thrilled to have him leading The Daily Show for another year.”

Stewart originally hosted the show for 16 years from 1999 through 2015, before leaving for Apple to host The Problem With Jon Stewart. At the time, he passed the Daily Show hosting baton to Trevor Noah, who left the show in 2022. “I think it’s healthy for things to end when they’re still in a good place,” Noah said as he announced his departure. “I want to leave before I’m burnt out, because there are many other things I’d like to do.”

With Stewart’s return in early 2024, the show has seen higher ratings and earned an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series.
