Rangpur Riders proud to wave the Bangladesh flag in GSL

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) side Rangpur Riders are set to become the first Bangladeshi franchise to feature in an overseas league in the inaugural edition of the Global Super League in Guyana, starting on November 27.

The five-team competition will also feature Caribbean Premier League team Guyana Amazon Warriors, Pakistan Super League's Lahore Qalanders, England's Hampshire and New Zealand's Victoria.

Rangpur, one-time BPL champions, will begin their campaign against Hampshire on November 28.

In a press conference held today in Mirpur ahead of Rangpur's campaign, the franchise's captain Nurul Hasan Sohan viewed this as a great opportunity and also a big responsibility.

"I feel this is a huge opportunity for us players to take part in a global tournament like this, which would also be a highly competitive tournament. As a franchise, we are getting the chance to represent Bangladesh outside of home, this is a huge honour for us," Nurul said.

"At the same time, we also have a responsibility. We will try a 100 percent from our end to achieve something good. So that we get more such opportunities in the future for the betterment of our cricket."

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim was also present at the press conference and hoped Rangpur would wave Bangladesh's flag high in the tournament.

"Congratulations to the Rangpur Riders. They are going there as the best of all the teams available here right now. They are going there with proven players and an organised unit.

"Rangpur Riders won't just be representing themselves, they will represent the BCB and more importantly Bangladesh. I hope that they will play their best."
