Saskatchewan mid-year financials project $743M deficit, more than double from budget

The Saskatchewan authorities is projecting a shortage that’s much than treble from budget, mostly owed to higher harvest security payouts pursuing a hard farming season.

The province’s mid-year fiscal study says the state is projected to beryllium $743 cardinal successful the red, up from the $273-million shortage earmarked successful the budget.

It says upwind conditions were bully successful the spring, but a blistery July had dried retired fields and reduced harvest yields.

Finance Minister Jim Reiter says agriculture is cardinal to Saskatchewan and that harvest security is captious for producers.
