The singer asked her young interviewer about love and staying confident
Rihanna got some advice about staying from an unlikely source this week, speaking with 7-year-old Miles on the popular YouTube series Recess Therapy on Tuesday. The adorable interview covered everything from playing instruments to how to make new friends.
Rihanna acknowledged she’s a fan of the show, and Miles in particular, having watched many of the show’s other videos that featured him. “You’re really funny,” the singer told Miles, who responded with “I know” almost immediately.
After revealing his favorite Rihanna’s song — “Shine Bright Like a Diamond,” he said — Rihanna explained that she doesn’t always feel confident, and then she asked what his secret was if he ever loses confidence. “Usually just being kind and brave,” he said.
Rihanna also asked Miles if he liked using his imagination, and he told her that he likes writing music for the piano. Rihanna replied that her two baby boys — RZA and Riot, her children with rapper A$AP Rocky — both love the piano too.
Recess Therapy’s host Julian Shapiro-Barnum asked both Miles and Ri if they ever lie, and after admitting it, the two pinky promised they wouldn’t lie anymore.
While the chat was for the most part cuter than it was revealing, Miles did get some musical insight from the superstar, asking her what her favorite song was that she wrote. “‘Love On the Brain’ is one of my favorite songs I ever sang,” she said, and then she asked if Miles had ever been in love.
The two wrapped their chat with Rihanna asking Miles to spread one final message to all the children watching. “They should never lick what?” she asked. “Metal,” he said. Because what?” She further pressed. “You could get lead poisoning,” he responded.
