‘The Wild Robot’ Streaming: How To Watch the Hit Animated Movie at Home

The Wild Robot was wildly successful at the box office, but fans who missed it on the big screen can now catch it at home. The film was made available to stream on VOD on Amazon Prime and other rental services last month on Oct 15, even though the family film continues to perform at the box office.

The Wild Robot is based on a children’s book series by Peter Brown, originally published in 2016, and stars Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, a robot who finds herself stranded on a forest island. Along the way, Roz meets animals like Fink, played by Pedro Pascal, Brightbill, played by Kit Connor, and and Pinktail, played by Catherine O’Hara. The film was directed by Chris Sanders, who was acclaimed for films like Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon.

In addition to the digital VOD release, the film will be available to watch on Blu-Ray or DVD, with the physical release hitting retailers on Dec. 3, 2024. The Wild Robot received widespread critical acclaim, notching a rare 98% on both the critic Tomatometer and the audience Popcornmeter.

According to the synopsis, The Wild Robot is “A powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.”

Though no streaming date has been confirmed, it’s been reported that The Wild Robot will eventually be available to stream on Peacock.
