About 22 lakh canine wound cases were reported successful the state during 2024 (January-December), Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh Alias Lalan Singh, informed Lok Sabha connected Tuesday.
In a written reply to an unstarred question, Singh said that 21,95,122 canine wound cases and 37 deaths were reported during 2024. Besides, 5,04,728 cases and 11 deaths of different animals including monkey wound cases were reported past year, Singh said, citing the information reported by states and Union Territories connected the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (Integrated Health Information Platform) portal nether the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Of the full canine wound cases, implicit 5 lakh victims were children little than 15 years of age.
“As per the information reported by States/UTs connected the Integrated Health Information Platform portal nether Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, 519,704 canine wound cases involving children little than 15 years of property were reported crossed the state during Jan-Dec 2024,” helium said.
