It has been an emotional weekend for pop stars, with Adele bidding adieu to her Las Vegas residency, and Taylor Swift ending her Toronto Eras Tour run with a teary goodbye.
Adele delivered a tearful speech on Saturday night, Nov. 23, during her final Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In video captured by a fan from the night, Adele began with a sip of wine before she delivered a moving speech about her Vegas journey.
“I’m so sad this residency is over but I am so glad that it happened, I really, really am,” she said, going on to explain how “rocky” it was to initially launch (the run was originally supposed to begin in January 2022, but it was postponed; it finally kicked off in November 2022).
“It was the worst year of my life,” she said of the period when she postponed the residency, adding that she was told it would be “career suicide” to change the dates. Instead, everything worked out well and she performed her 100th show on Saturday. She advised: “If something doesn’t feel right to you, don’t fucking do it.”
She said she was bursting with pride and thanked Vegas and her fans for giving her a second chance at the rescheduled run. She also tearfully thanked her son, Angelo, adding, “I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal,” and also expressed gratitude for her partner, Rich Paul, for his support.
“I will miss it terribly, I will miss you terribly. I don’t know when I next want to perform again,” she added. “I’m not doing anything else. I’m actually shitting myself about what I am gonna do.” She joked that she doesn’t have plans. “Of course I’ll be back, the only thing I’m good at is singing… I just don’t know when I want to next come onstage,” she continued.
The singer thanked the audience again for coming to Vegas to see her perform. “It’s just what I needed for this season of my life… I love you, I adore you. Thank you.”
