Anitta Shows Her Human and Superhuman Sides in New ‘Larissa’ Doc Trailer

Brazilian superstar Anita offers fans a look at the two distinct parts of herself in the new trailer for the upcoming documentary Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta.

The clip fittingly jumps between footage of Anitta navigating the crazy world of pop stardom and quieter, more personal moments with the musician, whose real name is Larissa de Macedo Machado. As Rebeca León, CEO and founder of Lionfish Entertainment, put it in the clip, “Anitta is the superhero, Larissa is the human being.”

That Anitta/Larissa split is epitomized early on with a scene where Anitta is on the phone advocating for herself — “Why when I do my things in Brazil with my people, things don’t happen like that?” — before she’s seen trekking through a remote forest, reflecting on the difficulties of fame. “You can’t stay in the top for more than eight minutes, or something like that,” she says. “Otherwise, you’re gonna die there.”

Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta was directed by João Wainer and Pedro Cantelmo, and it’s set to premiere on Netflix on March 6. 

The new trailer for Larissa comes fast on the heels of Anitta’s new single, “Romeo,” and its accompanying music video, which she released yesterday. The song marks Anitta’s first of the year and follows her 2024 album, Funk Generation. In an interview with Elle, Anitta said the song marked the start of a new album, saying, “That’s the idea of the concept of [this] whole new moment of my life and my career. … I have another side that I didn’t have the courage to show until now.”
