The Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) connected Friday announced a hike successful the retail terms of compressed earthy state (CNG) for vehicles successful Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and neighbouring areas similar Chakan, Talegaon, and Hinjewadi.
The CNG terms has been accrued by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 87.90 per kg.
MNGL attributed the terms hike to the emergence successful the input outgo of earthy gas.
The shortfall successful the allocation of home earthy state for the CNG assemblage has led to the usage of higher-priced regasified-liquefied earthy state (R-LNG), which is an imported alternative.
Blending R-LNG with home state is indispensable to cater to the increasing fig of CNG users, but it has resulted successful higher procurement costs, MNGL sources said.
Despite the terms hike, MNGL claimed that CNG offered important savings to consumers, with astir 48 per cent savings compared to petrol and 25 per cent savings compared to diesel for rider cars successful Pune. For autorickshaw operators, the savings stood astatine astir 27 per cent, it said.
This is the 2nd CNG terms hike this year, pursuing a Rs 1.50 per kg summation successful July.
