How to Score a Deal on Max (and Get the Streaming Service for Free)

2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Max, with a new season of The White Lotus, the continued success of Hacks and the return of The Last of Us.

Formerly known as HBO Max, the streamer merged with the former Discovery+ to rebrand as simply, “Max” and the site is now home to some of the biggest releases over the last few years, from Succession and the live-action Barbie movie, to several critically-acclaimed series, including the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, And Just Like That, The Pitt and more.

A subscription to Max runs just $9.99/month, which is a great value for the thousands of hours of content available on the streaming service but a limited-time Amazon promo lets you stream Max online free for up to a week.

Amazon Prime members can head to their Prime Video homepage to grab this 7-day free trial to HBO Max. The free trial lets you stream TV shows, movies, documentaries and specials and also watch live sports and live news online, with more 4K content than ever, according to the brand.

A Max subscription normally costs $9.99 and the Max site itself doesn’t currently offer free streaming, so you’ll want to take advantage of this free trial on Prime video while it’s still live.

But there are other ways to start streaming free on Max, and you don’t necessarily need a standalone subscription to do so. DoorDash has a new promotion that gives its DashPass members an annual subscription to Max for free. That’s right, you can get Max (with ads) for no additional charge when you sign up for a DashPass Annual Plan membership in the U.S. That’s a 56% discount versus paying for both memberships together.

Max Free Trial Offer: Get One Week of Streaming Free

From time to time, Max offers a free trial and right now, Amazon Prime members can get a 7-day free trial to Max here. Log into your Prime account to claim the offer. Continue on for $9.99/month after your free trial is up or cancel to avoid being charged.

Max doesn’t always offer a free trial so this promotion is one you’ll want to take advantage of, if you’ve been wanting to test out the streaming service.

There are a few other ways to get a streaming discount on Max. Your best bet is to sign up for an annual plan versus going month-to-month, which will save you 17% off the total price. Annual plans start at just $99 for Max (with ads) — no promo code required.

If you pay the standard monthly rate, you’d spend an extra $20-$35 more on your Max subscription, depending on if you go with the ad-supported or ad-free package, so the annual deal is a solid savings.

Another way to score a Max streaming deal? Grab the new Disney, Hulu and Max bundle, which gets you access to Disney+, Hulu and Max for one low price of $16.99/month. That saves you almost 40% versus paying for all three streamers separately.
