Think Amazon Prime Day Has the Best Deals This Week? These Sites Beg to Differ

Millions of people will be shopping Amazon’s second-annual Prime Big Deals Day event on October 8 and 9, but a number of other big-box retailers and online sites are offering up competing deals and sale events, in an effort to get a piece of the action.

While Prime Day deals will drive the majority of sales, consumers have a lot of choices this week when it comes to shopping online, with dozens of other retailers trying to cash in on the Prime Day action. Many non-Amazon sites are offering some sort of sale or discount this year with stores like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart leading the charge.

What Are the Best Prime Day Alternative Sales to Shop?

There are dozens of sites offering deals and discounts this week, in addition to Amazon. We’ve done the research and rounded up 10 of the best Prime Day alternative sales to shop right now.

1. Target Circle Week

Target is running its “Circle Week” event through October 12, with thousands of deals on offer, including up to 50% off top beauty products, household essentials, kitchen items, toys and Halloween decor.

Other Circle Week deals include up to 40% off vacuums (from brands like Bissell and Shark), 30% off select apparel, 30% off select luggage, and 30% off Threshold bath and bedding. Daily deals include hundreds of dollars off top brands like Dyson, Keurig and more. See all the daily deals here.

Target is also a great place to score cheap deals on toys this week, with up to 30% off LEGO sets. You’ll also get a “spend and save” deal on toys: get $10 off purchases of $40+ and take $20 off purchases of $75+.

Unlike Amazon, which requires you to sign up for an Amazon Prime membership to score the best days on Prime Day, Target’s deals are open to everyone — no membership fee required. Simply sign up for a free Target account online here and get Circle-exclusive deals across the site.

2. Walmart Holiday Deals

Walmart’s “Rollback Deals” happen every single day, but this week, the retailer gets an early start on gifting with a new Holiday Deals event. Running from October 8-14, shoppers can save up to 50% off toys, electronics and home goods. We got a sneak peek at the deals, and the savings and selection rivals Amazon’s. Walmart’s holiday sale also runs a few days longer than Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event.

The best Walmart discounts are on Dyson vacuums, Apple iPads, BISSELL carpet cleaners, HP laptops and LEGO toys. We also spotted the lowest prices of the year for GoPro cameras, Reebok sneakers and Dell computers. Walmart also has the new PlayStation 5 Pro in stock.

Just like Target’s sale event, Walmart’s Deals for Days doesn’t require a membership to shop, and many items come with free two-day shipping. Of course Walmart+ members can shop the deals before anyone else.

3. Best Buy 48-Hour Flash Sale

Best Buy is taking aim at Prime Day with its own promotion this week, with a 48-hour flash sale October 8 and 9. Save hundreds of dollars on TVs and home theater accessories (we spotted big-screen sets from $139), MacBooks, iPads, headphones, sound bars and cameras.

Save up to $750 on name-brand TVs and up to $400 off laptop computers. Home audio systems are also up to $400 off.

More savings: save up to 50% on already-discounted merchandise at the Best Buy Outlet, which serves up deals on clearance, refurbished and open-box appliances and electronics. We spotted deals on everything from fridges and dishwashers, to gaming consoles and digital cameras. Best Buy says many of these items have been further marked down from their original sale price. 4. Home Depot “Decor Days”

The Home Depot’s “Home Decor Days” event gets you up to 50% off furniture, interior decor, bedding, lighting and bath accessories. It’s also a chance to save on Halloween and holiday decorations.

5. Nordstrom Sale

The first Prime Day this year happened to coincide with another one of the best savings events anywhere on the web: Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale.

While the anniversary sale is now over, Nordstrom still has some worthwhile discounts ahead of Black Friday under what they’ve dubbed their “Limited Time Sale.” You can find deals on everything from fall jackets and accessories, to designer sneakers, denim, dresses and beauty products. Plus, there are pre-holiday sales happening now, letting you save on popular gifting items for recipients on your list — or for yourself.

Get free two-day shipping on most items (just like Amazon Prime) and Nordy Club members (free to join) can earn up to 3x the points on beauty.

6. Saks Fifth Avenue Sale

Another great place to score deals on clothing is Saks Fifth Avenue. The department store’s sale section boasts some serious discounts on everything from streetwear to designer pieces to shoes, and the site is offering a “buy more, save more” promo code until October 10. Save up to $250 with discount code OCTGETSF at checkout (you only need to spend $200 to save $50, and the savings go up from there).

7. Bed Bath & Beyond “Way Beyond” Sale

Bed Bath & Beyond may have closed down most of its physical stores, but their website still has a ton of products and deals to shop. This week, the site’s “Way Beyond” sale boasts discounts of up to 70% off on a huge selection of home goods and everyday essentials, in addition to deals on kitchen appliances, dining, décor and more. Bed, Bath & Beyond’s fall clearance section, meantime, is also up to 70% off.

Customers will receive $25 in “Beyond Bucks” for every $250 they spend and everyone gets free shipping on purchases over $49. Unlike Prime Day, the Way Beyond event doesn’t require a membership and still offers fast shipping.

8. Wayfair “Way Day”

Wayfair’s “Way Day” event is on now, with big savings on furniture, home goods and accessories that rival some of Amazon’s Prime Day deals. Just how much can you save? Wayfair says to expect discounts up to 80% off.

We spotted up to 70% off curtains and drapes, 60% off mattresses, 60% off living room furniture and 60% off outdoor furniture, plus daily doorbuster deals from $20.

We spotted crystal glassware under $20, desks well under $150, and other large furniture — think TV stands, coffee tables, dressers, etc. — all starting under $200.

9. Zappos “Big October Sale”

There are currently more than 3,000 products marked down on Zappos.com right now as part of their “Big October Sale.” We spotted shoes and accessories starting at just $10, with top name brands on sale too – think Nike, Adidas, Timberland, Asics, All Saints, Blundstone, Columbia, Dolce Vita and more.

New this year: Sign up for a free Zappos VIP account and link your Prime account to it for “surprise” rewards and deals on October 8-9. While Zappos hasn’t revealed what these surprises are, they will likely be cheaper prices and exclusive discounts reserved for Prime members. Prime members also get free shipping on all Zappos orders — no minimum required.
