Travis Kelce admits that potentially losing Rashee Rice for the season was a crushing blow for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes steered his team to a 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers to take them to 4-0.

But it came at a cost as Rice joined star running back Isiah Pacheco after colliding with his quarterback.

It is feared that the second-year wideout – one of the NFL’s leading receivers this season – has torn his ACL and he joins Hollywood Brown on the sidelines with the free agent receiver expected to miss the entire season.

Kelce discussed the injury with brother Jason on the latest episode of their New Heights Podcast.

“On the offensive side of the ball, we’ve gotta get rolling,” he began after hailing the Chiefs‘ formidable defense.

“And it’s not gonna get any easier after seeing Rashee going down during the game.

“I just love the way that guy was playing the game of football, how he was attacking every single day in practice.

“Sometimes you just root so hard for the guys who do it the right way and Rashee had been doing that, man.

“That was a huge dagger to me when I saw him go down.”

Kelce thinks that the Chiefs’ offensive line is their “biggest weapon” right now.

Mahomes threw a 54-yard touchdown to Xavier Worthy during the Week 4 win, his longest since a 56-yarder to Jerick McKinnon in 2022.

It traveled 62.2 yards in the air – a career high for the former Texas Tech passer.

“We have been running the ball so well these first few weeks,” said Kelce.

“I think the safeties are starting to get their eyes on the backfield and I tell you what, you take your eyes off Xavier Worthy and that guy is gonna be past you in a blink of an eye.

“He was absolutely flying on this one, running at a top speed of 21.46 miles per hour.

“X came up big later on in the game to seal the game off on the final drive when were trying to run the clock out.

“I can’t say enough about what he’s been for the offense so far and seeing him growing in it, becoming more and more accountable every week.”
