‘Uh oh!’ – Laura Woods sees funny side to royal blunder she made during Aston Villa win

Laura Woods saw the funny side after discovering she had made a royal slip-up live on TV during Aston Villa’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

The TNT Sports presenter and ex-talkSPORT host was on duty as Villa made it two wins from two as they compete in their first Champions League campaign in 41 years.

Villa Park was treated to an outstanding performance as Unai Emery’s side overcame German giants Bayern Munich 1-0.

It was super-sub Jhon Duran who yet again bagged the late winner, lighting up the stadium on a night which will long be remembered by the club.

And one of the many adoring fans watching on was none other than Prince William, a lifelong Villa supporter who often speaks about his passion for the Midlands club.

The Duke of Cambridge was spotted enthusiastically applauding his side and looking absolutely delighted as his team triumphed on the night.

But in a case of mixed identities, Woods accidentally got her royals muddled!

As the television coverage cut to show the Prince cheering his team on from the stands, Woods observed: “We saw Prince Harry there.”

With all that was going on on what was undoubtedly one of the most magical and emotion-filled nights in recent memory at Aston Villa, her slip-up was understandable.

And the former talkSPORT presenter took to social media a few hours after the game having evidently realised her mistake.

“Uh oh. [The] Palace is gonna be after me,” she jokingly wrote on X, adding a laughing emoji in as she reflected on her gaffe.

But Prince William, like all Villa fans, will no doubt just be completely overjoyed after his team’s heroics.

And Emery shared a moment with the royal after the game[/caption]

After the game manager Emery revealed to TNT Sports that he had chatted with the Duke of Cambridge after the match.

“I told him the best moments we can have is days like today and try to enjoy the way,” he said.

“Because when you are getting at the end, I don’t know where, but everything we are doing on the way, every day, every match, try to enjoy it, enjoy the way.

“And today, winning, of course, how we played, the team we played and being in the Champions League 42 years after the final, of course, it was a special day.

“But like I said before the match, we want to keep it for a long time, being in Europe consistently and hopefully more days like today.”
