CBS Sports studio in stitches as Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards are snubbed from holiday with Aston Villa hero

Jhon Duran sent Villa Park into raptures – and then left the CBS Sports studio in fits of laughter with a hilarious one-liner.

The 20-year-old was Aston Villa‘s hero on Wednesday night as he scored a stunning winner in the 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Duran – off the bench in the 70th minute – chipped Manuel Neuer with a cracking 25-yard effort to bring up his sixth goal of the season.

It was his fifth goal off the bench this term, with the Colombia international cementing himself as a cult hero by scoring the club’s first goal in Europe’s premier competition in 41 years.

And the striker, who was the subject of a rejected approach from West Ham in the summer, was in a joyous mood in his post-match interview with CBS Sports.

In the studio was host Kate Scott, Arsenal legend Thiery Henry, Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher and ex-Manchester City fan favourite Micah Richards.

Speaking in Spanish, Henry told Duran he loves his hometown of Medellin.

Duran duly responded, with Scott revealing through translation that the youngster had invited Henry to go on holiday with him in the Colombian city next year.

Scott then chimed in, asking whether that invite stretches to Carragher and Richards.

But Duran was quick to state there’s only one man he wishes to spend time with in his native country,

A smiling Duran simply said: “No, no, only Thierry.”

It sparked fits of laughter from the panel, with Duran joining in on the laughter.

From Duran’s nine outings in all competitions so far this term, he has been limited to just one start, which came in the Carabao Cup third round win over Wycombe.

Boss Unai Emery has faced calls to bring him into his line-up, whether that’s alongside Ollie Watkins, or in place of the England international.

But Emery refused to comment on his place in his team when speaking to TNT Sports after the 1-0 win over Bayern.

He said of the forward: “We are working with him. Most important is his attitude. He’s available to play 90, 60, 30 minutes.

“He’s been focusing each minute he’s playing. Today we had two very good strikers. It’s fantastic for him and the team.”

Next up for Villa is a home clash against Manchester United on Sunday, where Duran will be desperate to make another impact – whether that’s from the bench or in a potential first Premier League start this term.
