I played with Lebron James and Jayson Tatum after signing $260million contract but I learned most from four-time NBA champion

Anthony Edwards brought his notebook with him to the Paris Olympics.

Fresh off signing a bumper five-year contract extension that could hit $260million, he joined a star-studded Team USA roster in France.

Playing alongside NBA great LeBron James and Boston Celtics phenom Jayson Tatum, the 23-year-old was spoilt for choice with mentors.

But it was Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry who gave him the most memorable lesson.

“The best thing I learned was from Steph,” Edwards said at the Minnesota Timberwolves media day.

“I took [LeBron’s] pregame routine, but Steph, just playing without the ball.

“The last few days we’ve been playing 5-on-5, I just be cutting, getting out of the way and I get easy shots.

“So, I think I learned the most from Steph.”

The Timberwolves lost out to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals last season.

Edwards finally got his hands on some silverware after winning Olympic gold in Paris.

And now that he has broken his duck, the former No.1 pick is putting in extra work as he looks for more glory with Minnesota.

“We got to come in knowing who we are. We can’t come in trying to shock people or surprise people,” Edwards added.

“We got to come in knowing that teams want to beat us.

“Like we went to the Western Conference finals last year.

“Denver going to be ready to play us. Teams going to be wanting to beat us. And we got to come ready to go.

“That’s why I was here earlier this summer. Right after the Olympics, I came straight here.

“So the guys know we locked in this year. We ain’t no surprises.

“We need to go back to where we were last year and go even further.”

Edwards is now focused on the Timberwolves

Edwards, who could be the first man to earn a $450million NBA contract thanks to the new TV deal, was already playing at an elite level.

He averaged 24.6 points per game against Dallas, but Luka Doncic was too strong and masterminded a 4-1 series win.

If Edwards can show off what he learned from Curry and take his game to the next level, the Timberwolves can shoot for the moon.
